One of my favorite things about KI is that she has a mix for everything. For volleyball, for bus trips down to country concerts, for CG, for parties thrown in the honor of cheese, I mean, anything. She can create the soundtrack of your life, and gets the party started wherever she is. THANK YOU KRISTEN for you awesome music skillz. I'm jealous.
What are you favorite things about Kristen?
i love that kristen has more flower pins/broches than anyone else i have ever met. i watched her purchase 4 in one day! (if you don't know what a flower pin/broche is, look at the yellow thing in the picture of her to your right)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about you Kristen, is your effervescent personality - whether it's creating videos, dancing on the volleyball court or leading the kids at church through a musical, your enthusiasm and personality always shine through. I have always been impressed by your ability to command the room's attention. Happy Birthday!!
ReplyDeleteKristen is probably the best friend most of us will ever have. Obvi she is more fun than a chub pack of 5 Hour Energy shots, but way more impressive is her enormous heart and the endless calories she burns making life better for everyone around her. Whether it's hand-knit wool beanies made to order, epic tribute videos or the giant LOL from a classic KI email or link, Kristen is truly one in a million and a huge blessing to our community and city!!

ReplyDelete1) i feel less weird when i'm not the only one dancing at volleyball
2) she pretends to come over to watch SYTYCD and the Bachelorette even though we know we’re going to just talk the whole time
3) she’s always sure to dress up for me
4) we’re fully supportive of each other’s unrealistic fears
5) she took me to L.A. where I got to wear a strangle scarf, sing beatles songs with her family, make fun of a waiter, meet John Tesh, eat frozen yogurt at 10am, and take pictures with Jesus
6) I can’t compete with her humor and creativity but she doesn’t make me feel like I bore her
7) she listens to me and remembers stuff I say. She knows and gets me.
8) she’s trustworthy
9) she’s smart
10) she loves EVERYONE
What I appreciate most about Kristen is her ability to use her personality and social confidence to draw out those around her who are more reserved or less confident.
ReplyDeleteFor example, she creates great music soundtracks for volleyball, road trips, and even cross-town volunteer outings to engage each person's emotions in the "moment" we're experiencing together. Similarly, she learned guitar for community group so that we could more easily worship Jesus in praise with our whole heart. Finally, when I brought my young cousins to visit City Church, she went out of her way to relate to them and make them feel at home. (I imagine this is the sort of work she does regularly volunteering for sunday school)
Because of you, Kristen, whenever I step off a plane, feeling like I'm from out of town, wondering if people are looking at me now, I know it will be ok--cuz I can party anywhere in the USA!

ReplyDeleteI could surely fill an entire blog with all my favorite things about Kristen ... but here are just a few:
ReplyDelete- she's hands down the MOST fun person to shop with ... she can tell you if something is great or dreadful with merely a look
- she's an ace with styling tools ... that girl can do a updo like nobody's business!
- she creates new words and acronyms all the time, and you immediately want to incorporate them into your lingo
- she makes everyone feel like part of her family
- she's a whiz with Photoshop ... the girl has got mad skills
- she is so funny that I often leave her house with cheeks and stomach hurting from laughing so much
- she always knows how to cheer you up ... you literally cannot be sad around Kristen, it's just impossible
- she makes a mean Eggo waffle for her houseguests!
- she's just the BEST friend, sister, confidante and counselor you could ask for
I have lots of favorite things about Kristen, not the least of which is her propensity for spontaneous rehearsed dance moves in the middle of a crowd or on her own. But my most favorite thing is her integrity, honesty and sincerity. She is the most genuine friend to everyone she knows. Her honest advice is something that I have found to be very important, and something that I cherish.
ReplyDeleteI remember the first time I saw Kristen’s Brittany Spears’ video. It was unbelievable, obviously. But it also showed me what a fun-loving and wonderfully silly and confident person Kristen is. She knows how to have fun and how to bring people into that fun with her and make their lives better for knowing her. I’ve also been blessed to see the sincere and thoughtful side of Kristen as well. Not many people can be all of those things and it is an amazing person like Kristen who can.

i love her thoughtfulness in making people feel included in group settings- i can speak from experience that in a large group of strangers, kristen was always the one i would go to and say "hi!" to and get a hug from :)
i love her costumes and updos! seriously, that saddle rack do and twilight wolf ears... amazing.
i love her obsession with eggos AND imodium, it makes me laugh every time.
i love her desire and confidence to share her gifts... like playing guitar for worship in CG, making fun and creative tech savvy birthday gifts, being the ring leader of almost every event (never without a soundtrack, of course) and by making people laugh all.the.time!

I have loved being with you and sharing our volleyball time, Twilight time (p.s. hate to break it to you but Edward wins in the end!), CG, your amazing posts on Facebook on the life of KI... my first memory of you, KI, involves you dancing and me thinking- wow...she's a really great dancer! :) i do appreciate good dance moves...and good taste in music, and you have both! you also have a true zest for life & it shows. LMK if you find out ways to bottle up your energy & sell it...i'll buy some at the right price!! another favorite i've seen in you is how you will go the extra mile for your friends & will bend over backwards to bring them moments of joy & delight. cheers to you on your b-day! hope you have a great one!
